Zone entries and resting limits

In a measured set of cells the default ticket entry is a resting limit at the zone edge rather than the analyzed close. A zone-mode take opens as pending, not open: no position exists until a fill is seen, and a limit that expires unfilled resolves flat with no R booked.

What qualifies a cell

A cell is a combination of pattern, asset class and timeframe. Its entry mode is not a preference — it is the outcome of a replay over historical data, and the criteria are pre-registered before the fit runs so that a cell cannot be admitted by choosing the threshold after seeing the result.

Three conditions must hold together: a minimum number of simulated fills, a minimum fill rate, and a minimum improvement in expectancy over entering at the close. A cell that clears all three flips; everything else keeps the close entry.

Why this page names no cells

The qualifying set changes with every re-fit, because a larger evidence corpus admits cells the previous one could not measure. A list printed here would be a second copy of a generated table, and the copy would go stale silently.

That is not hypothetical. A help article naming asset classes was published while a re-fit had already added another, so a gold read displayed a resting limit against copy saying gold never waits.

The entry row on your own read is the authority. It is computed from that plan's cell at the moment the plan is built, so it cannot disagree with what the engine will actually do.

Pending, not open

A zone-mode take is recorded as pending. No position exists until the resolver observes a fill, and the journal says so rather than showing an open trade that was never entered.

The limit lives for 8 bars of the plan's own timeframe. If price never returns to it, the plan expires, you are told, and nothing is booked — an entry taken late at a worse price is a different trade from the one that was graded.

Targets stay anchored to the close

Even in cells where the entry waits, the targets remain anchored to the analyzed close. That is the configuration that was measured, and shipping a different one would mean publishing behaviour no replay has tested.

Frequently asked

Why does my journal show a zone trade as pending rather than open?
A zone entry is a resting limit, so no position exists until the resolver sees a fill. If the limit expires unfilled the record resolves flat, you are notified, and no R is booked against you.
How do I tell whether a specific read will wait at a limit?
Read the entry row on that read. “Entry” means it enters at the analyzed close; “Entry · resting limit” means it waits at the band shown beside it. The row is computed from the plan’s own cell, which is why it is more reliable than any published list.
