Troubleshooting

A symbol will not resolve

Short answer

Check three things in order: whether the market needs a data key, whether the symbol uses a different convention (GOLD vs XAUUSD), and whether the instrument is inside covered universe.

Steps

  1. 1
    Check you are signed in
Stocks, ETFs and forex need an account because their data is metered; crypto does not. Signed out, a stock ticker returns a prompt to sign in rather than a read.
  2. 2
    Try the alternative naming
Gold resolves as GOLD, XAUUSD or XAU/USD. Indices vary by broker — NAS100, US100 and NDX refer to the same instrument.
  3. 3
    Check coverage
US-listed equities and ETFs, major and minor FX, major crypto, commodities and indices are covered. Microcaps and thin alts may resolve with degraded coverage, which the read states.

Worth knowing

  • If a symbol cannot be resolved, ORIN says so rather than grading a different instrument that happens to match.
