A tour of the desk and the command palette

The rail

The left rail lists every view. Upload sits indented under Analyze with a beta chip, because the two are the same act performed on different evidence — one is measured from market data and one is inferred from a picture — and the indent says they are siblings without saying they are equals.

The rail also carries the plan label and, when there is unread conversation in the Insider room, a warm ember. The ember is the only warm accent on the desk and means exactly one thing.

The URL is the source of truth

Every view is deep-linkable. Opening a URL puts you in that view, and moving between views changes the URL — the two are never out of step, so a bookmark, a refresh and a back button all behave the way the address bar implies.

Addresses that used to be top-level views redirect to their current homes rather than 404ing. A URL that once worked keeps working.

Unbuilt rows say so

Two rows in the rail are inert and labelled as such. Nothing sits behind them; they are placeholders that admit to being placeholders rather than controls that quietly do nothing.

The same rule governs the Desk view, where capabilities that do not exist are marked as not built instead of being described in the future tense. This documentation follows the rule too: there is no page here for a feature that has not shipped.

The command palette

The palette opens with Cmd+K and does four things. It navigates to any surface. It grades a typed symbol on the current timeframe without leaving the keyboard. It searches the journal, showing the first few hits alongside the true total and opening the journal pre-filtered when you pick one. And it reaches the settings that are otherwise several clicks deep — notifications, table density, and the data export.

Showing the true total next to a truncated hit list is deliberate: a search that silently shows four results out of forty has told you something false about your own record.

Mobile and accessibility

On small screens the rail becomes an off-canvas drawer beneath a fixed top bar. The first tabbable element on the desk is a skip link, so a keyboard or screen-reader user is not walked through the entire rail before reaching the content.

The desk is masked from session analytics. Whatever a trader has on screen — their symbols, their positions, their account size — is not recorded by any session-replay tooling.

What does the SOON label on a desk row mean?

That the row is deliberately inert. The house rule is that unbuilt things say so where they stand, rather than being hidden or described as if they work. Nothing ships behind a SOON row, and this documentation does not describe one as a feature.

Can I link straight to a specific desk view?

Yes, for your own browser — every view is deep-linkable because the URL is the source of truth, and older addresses redirect rather than breaking. There is no shared or multi-seat desk, so a link is useful to you rather than to a teammate.
