Strategy rules are hard caps on the grade rather than suggestions. Each rule that fires limits how high the read can score and appends a plain-sentence flag naming why. Taking a read with fired flags records the decision as an override in your journal.
How a rule acts
A fired rule caps the grade at a stated ceiling and adds a flag with a readable reason. It does not veto the read — the analysis still renders in full, with the cap and its cause visible.

The shipped defaults
Five rules ship, two of them disabled by default. The disabled pair are opinions that many traders hold and many do not, so they are present and off rather than absent or imposed.
- A minimum reward-to-risk floor — fires when the plan pays too little for what it risks.
- No counter-trend entries — fires when the setup opposes the prevailing trend.
- A maximum extension limit — fires when price has already travelled too far from its mean.
- A volume-confirmation requirement — shipped disabled.
- A minimum confidence floor — shipped disabled.
Session windows
Session rules are declared with an explicit IANA timezone, and the editor displays it. A session window without a named timezone is ambiguous twice a year, and the two ambiguous weeks are exactly when a trader is most likely to be caught out by it.
Rules versus lenses
Your rules are the strategy lens. A partner pack is a different lens, and a pack can only ever be stricter than the engine's base read — a lens that could raise a grade would be a lens that could be chosen for the answer it gives.
Applying a pack rewrites your rules, and it asks first. A settings change you did not authorise is a settings change you will not remember making.
