Every analysis grades through exactly one lens. The free desk has one: ORIN's default rulebook, shown as Alpha 1.7, the model it runs. Pro adds the strategy lens — the rules you set in Settings — and the prop-firm rule packs that rewrite them. A rule can only ever make a read stricter: it caps the grade at its stated ceiling and is named on the verdict.
The two lenses
The platform lens is the engine's own read on ORIN's default rulebook. The strategy lens is that read checked against rules you wrote. On the free desk the platform lens is called Alpha 1.7 — the strategy and the model are the same thing there, because there is nothing to switch to.
The guru packs — third-party methodologies codified as lenses — were retired on 17 October 2026. Reads graded through one keep the lens name they were written with.
Stricter only, never kinder
A rule that fires caps the grade at its stated ceiling; it can hold a grade or lower it, never raise one.
This is the load-bearing guarantee of the lens system. A rule that could raise a grade would be a rule a trader could select for the answer it produces, and at that point the grade stops being a measurement and becomes a choice.
No blending
Two lenses cannot be combined. A blended grade cannot be explained to the person receiving it — and a grade nobody can trace back to a rule is indistinguishable from a number that was simply asserted.
Switching, and what happens when Pro lapses
Changing the lens re-grades the read on screen from committed state, and the lens is part of the key that decides whether a prior read can be reused.
Your own rules are part of Pro. If a subscription lapses, the rules you wrote stay in Settings, but the engine grades on ORIN's default rulebook rather than through rules that are no longer entitled. The choice is preserved; the entitlement is not faked.
Frequently asked
- Will my own rules ever raise my grade?
- No. A rule caps the grade at its stated ceiling or leaves it alone, so the strategy lens can only hold or lower a grade. A rulebook that could only ever agree with the engine would be decoration rather than a constraint.
- What lens grades my charts if my subscription lapses?
- ORIN's default rulebook — Alpha 1.7 on the desk. Your stored rules survive so nothing is lost if you resubscribe, but the engine falls back rather than continuing to grade through rules that are no longer entitled.
